Went to my first-ever Rugby game!! It was the Nationals with BYU and Arkansas. BYU won. That's what's up! John got a huge group of us set up with some box-seats. It was awesome :)
Carpoolin with James and Eli! Just waiting in traffic!

I parked my car under a tree at work today, and I came out to see it covered in these little flowery-pollen-weird thingies :P

Between EMI and Gap, Eli made me a lovely mac n' cheese dinner. I got concerned when the flavoring squeezed out of a little pouch. It looked gross, but it was still pretty good! Way better than my vegan mac n' cheese a while back!

As part of La Gran Aventura, Eli and I decided to take up rock-climbing, because we both miss having muscles. We are going to do a bunch of bouldering and climbing up in the mountains by our houses, but we decided to start at a gym first.
Eli got tired pretty quickly....
Eli says this is a good picture cause you can see my muscles..... What muscles??? :P
Jumping action-shot:
Afterwards, we got Slurpees, and I bought the new Carrie Underwood CD. YES.

I have a pretty awesome YSA Ward :) Our FHE Activity was a pool party at the bishop's house. It was a blast!!
I went with Eli again to visit the dogs. Lola is giving me a kiss :)
As a side-note: Today I got a letter from my dear friend Elder Bell that was written and post-marked on March 5.
What the heck, you darn South American mailing system!! Oh well, better late than never! :)

Mother's Day! :) What a wonderful Sunday! I had a great day at church, then went to Aunt Kara and Uncle Corb's gorgeous house for dinner with a bunch of relatives. This is a picture of us playing volleyball on their tennis courts. It was lovely :)
So since it's Mother's Day, I only feel it appropriate to write a little about my own Mom :)
I was facebook-stalking my Mom, trying to find a picture to put on here when I found this little picture, apparently from college freshman year! (This is her when she was about my age) She's the one on the left. Isn't she absolutely gorgeous?? How the heck did my Dad manage to get a girl like her?? I have no idea, but its worked out well for everyone in the end :)
I am regrettably one of the many who never gives my Mom enough appreciation. I feel bad because I need one or two days set aside each year to really realize how much she has done for me. But I plan to take advantage of those days, and really focus on working more to appreciate all that she does and has done for me.
My Mom is incredibly talented. She was Oregon's Junior Miss not too long ago, and I'm told was an incredible dancer. And, as seen above, she was (and still is) absolutely stunning. She was very academically talented, and was a cheer-leader back in high school. Everybody loves her. She is also very spiritual, attending to her church callings with over a hundred percent effort, magnifying every calling she receives. She is always concerned for other people- checking up on people and going out of her way to help in any way she can. She truly cares for each individual she comes in contact with.
My Mom is very talented at being a mom (even though I'm sure she would insist otherwise). She has spent the last 19 years caring for every need of each of her 5 children, and putting them above herself. Piano lessons, sport practices, doctor's visits, church activities, etc. She went out of her way to allow each of us to do whatever it is we wanted to do. She came to everything. She has 5 kids, each involved in many activities, and somehow, she managed to make it to everything. Every choir concert, every track meet, every performance and activity. I have no idea how she did it, honestly. I remember my Mom drove 3 hours out of her way to watch one 65-second race of mine. I insisted that she didn't need to come. One-and-a-half hours each way is a long drive just for one race. But she didn't listen to me and came anyway because she wanted to support me. What a sweetheart.
She was always up every morning by 5:45am so she could see me out the door on my way to seminary. A good majority of the time, she would even prepare a smoothie for me to run out the door with. When I forgot lunches, checks, books, or gym clothes, she would bring them to me at school. And often-times, they came with a sweet little note. Our family never ate out, and we never really had to resort to any frozen dinners. My Mom had home-cooked dinners every night. Crock-pot, oven, left-overs, whatever- we always had a home-cooked dinner. Even if I had a choir concert practice that started at like 5, she would make a special effort to be sure I had a good dinner prepared before I left.
Being a mother of 5, my Mom also had to put up with a lot of attitude and very little appreciation. More of that from me than I would like to admit. But she loved me every step of the way, whether I liked it or not. There were many regrettable times when I would treat her poorly, but she would still love me and do all she could to make my life easier, despite my attitude.
I used to get mad at my Mom a lot for some really stupid things. We were constantly disagreeing on clothes (that's too short, that has holes in it, that's not nice enough, etc). But I have come to appreciate the habits she instilled in me to always look and dress my best- to always look nice, and modest.
I would get mad at my Mom for continually asking or reminding me to vacuum, do the dishes, or fold the towels. But it has created a habit in me (that I'm still working to develop on my own) to be clean, and always try to make sure everything was 'spotless'.
Those are only 2 of many examples... :P
So here are the 3 words I'm sure every parent loves to hear from their child: YOU WERE RIGHT. Yes, you win. :) Thanks.
My Mom is always looking out for me. She keeps an eye out for things I might be interested in, like some cute skirts, a neat opportunity, or someone I could remember. And she would always follow up with me later.
Although I never really took advantage of it, my Mom has a lot of good advice and ideas to help me out with things. I remember on our way to and from a Miche show I helped her put on, we just talked about a bunch of stuff. I don't recall what it was exactly, but it was nice to have that connection with her and learn from what she had to say and teach me.
My Mom was always a support to me. I remember I had what was probably the worst day at school ever (drama. disgusting.) I walked in the door, and she didn't say a thing. She just came over and hugged me while I cried it out. She told me to take a break- she would cover my chores while I went and took a walk. I didn't have to say a thing- she already understood. My Mom is also incredibly spiritual. She has an amazing testimony and knowledge of the Gospel, and it shows in everything she does.
Many people throughout the years have commented on how amazing my Mom really is. I would usually just nod in agreement. It wasn't until I moved out and moved away that I realized truly how incredible of a woman she is. There's that old saying that goes, 'you don't know what you have until it's gone'. Even though my Mom isn't gone (she's just a state over), I still have realized, being away from her, how much of an impact she really was (and still is) on my life. And I regret the fact that it took me until then to really appreciate who she is in my life.
So, here's to my Mom- one of the most beautiful and amazing people I have ever had the privilege of coming into contact with. Her sweet spirit and influence on my life has been utterly indescribable, and much more than I can comprehend. I am so grateful to my Heavenly Father for blessing me to be the daughter of that incredible woman, and hope that someday I can be even half the woman she is.
I love you Mom :)
Yeah, I still have no idea how Dad got her.... ;)

Eli is watching his boss's dogs while he vacations to Hawaii (JEALOUS). So I went with him to visit the dogs! Tilly, Lola and Roxy. They loved me! :)
This is me on a long-board! So hard-core. YES.
James had some attractive shades action goin on:
John, Eli and I tried to go climb suicide rock. It's the jagged rock on the left side of the picture. It's this huge rock right next to the freeway (we passed by it as we walked to the parking lot yesterday) that has a bunch of graffiti all over it. We tried to climb it, but.... we couldn't :P Maybe another time!
The sunset was gorgeous.
Then John ditched us, so Eli and I went to Hector's (aka, Mocha Salsa) which is a really awesome and cheap Mexican restaurant. Eli orders in Spanish everytime we go. I wish I could speak another language- it's so awesome. But yeah, here we are enjoying a California Burrito and some Horchata :) Then we watched the Goonies (Truffle Shuffle!)

I feel safe declaring this as one of the most epic nights of my life. Eli and I decided we were going to have an amazing and adventurous summer. We have named the Summer of 2012 "La Gran Aventura" meaning The Great Adventure in Spanish. Our motto is YOLO (You Only Live Once). So this post will be a little long, but I have many pictures and stuff to share :)
Ok, so the night started off with me wanting an Arby's Beef Sandwich- Medium size, with plenty of Horsey (sp?) and Arby's sauce. Favorite fast-food thing ever. I could already tell it was going to be a good night.
Then, we met up with a bunch of Eli's friends at a park at like 10 or so. We decked ourselves out in glow-sticks and started walking along a dirt trail.
Along the way, we found a little river. Chase, Eli and Chris wanted to show their ninja skills balancing on some poles sticking out of the river. They were successful! Although, I was kind of hoping someone would fall in, because that would have been hilarious :)
Here is the same picture as the one above, just without the flash. Glow-sticks. Notice Chase's beautiful flower on the left.
Someone broke their glow-stick and sprayed it all over Chris's back... hahaha
Adventure buddies!
So after a long and adventurous walk, we got to this random closed-off mine or something. I have no idea what it was exactly, but it was dark and as you can see, there was plenty of graffiti on the walls. Here's the group:
It was pretty sketch.
We left that little mine-cove-whatever-it-was and went further up the dirt trail until we found this creepy tunnel. We ran through it blind (no lights) for a while until we reached a place where the tunnel went from horizontal to almost vertically up and down. Hanging down the tunnel was this skimpy old rope we could use to climb up it. Some of the guys talked about how it would be cool to get all the way up to the end of the tunnel. So Chris scoped it out, as seen below, with Chase keeping the rope steady:
We could only go up the rope one at a time, because it couldn't really be trusted. But by then, the majority of the group wanted to turn back and go to the park. Not gonna lie, it was a pretty sketch tunnel. But it was an obvious adventure! So while the rest of the group turned back, Chris Eli and I pressed forward! Eli climbed up the rope and got to the next part where the rope plateaued out. Then I went, followed by Chris. Here is a view from the top:
Who the heck thought of this genius idea?? Oh well... :P So we kept going through this tunnel. We passed a random cove in the tunnel where it looked like a hobo had been living. Weird. Then, we reached a part of the tunnel where it had an even steeper incline than before! But we climbed up one-by-one until we finally reached the top! This was the view:
Those bushes are bushes along the side of a mountain right next to the freeway. The park we started at was way on the other side of the freeway, in that big dark space between the freeway and the lights. The tunnel went up the hill, under the freeway, and up the side of the mountain. What a climb!
We survived!
Ok, so we are stranded on the side of a steep mountain right next to the freeway. And we weren't going to go back the way we came (because the tunnel was sketch, and going back down the way we came would be terrifying). So we made our way down the side of the rock face. Sweet:
Then, we walked a couple miles to a parking lot where the chickens of the group could pick us up.
What an adventure!

After work, Eli and I went to the SLC Temple to do baptisms, because I'd never been there to do that before! It was definitely an adventure, and I really enjoyed being there... as always!
Then afterwards, we had dinner at Kneader's (home of the best french toast ever, FYI). This is us enjoying some delicious rolo-chocolate-covered-pretzel-thingies. Then we went to watch the MoTab practice in the Tabernacle.

Well, here is a picture of my desk at work! It's pretty great :) Yes, the background on my computer is Lake Powell (which was probably a bad idea because I just want to go there so bad). My job is probably the most exciting job you will ever hear about. I sit at a desk and process insurance claims- I type in all this information into a computer program. One after the other after the other followed by another. Talk about exhilarating! But it's still pretty good- I get paid a lot, and can just sit there and listen to my iPod all day, which isn't too bad :)

It seemed like a good night to walk over to 7-11 and get a multi-colored Slurpee. So we did. And we took Personality Quizzes. I learned a lot about myself... haha pfft :P

Today I started my first day at work! I got hired to be a Claims Processor at EMI Health. I think it will be a great place to work :)
Then I went to FHE at the Briggs house :) And guess what!! They had a little Yorkie just like my little baby, Roxy (she died 3 years ago... I still miss her :P) Their little dog was named Daisy, and by the end of this night. she let me get this close to her! Wohoo!

This
shows quite a bit about my day! I have a pretty flower ring that
matched my favorite skirt I wore today! :) Then, I went to dinner with
the family at Kara and Corbin's house. It was delicious! And while we
were there, Kate got out the nail polish. They had this pretty
peachy-orange color she let me use :) Later that evening, Eli and I went
to a Fireside (it was a really awesome meeting). At the end, he stole
my pen and wrote "Hayley 'es capa" on my hand, which apparently means
Hayley is cool.... which frankly I agree with... His parents are both
from Australia, so I went to his place for a bit afterwards and he let
me try some Vegimite. It was.... interesting....

Eli and I went on an adventure to downtown Salt Lake City! :D
We took a picture by the fountain at City Creek. It was so fun! What a neat place.
Stopped by Temple Square. We only saw like a million weddings...
Flowers!! :D
Eli and I had cool-colored shoes :)
There was this home-made body lotion place thingie we went to that was probably the most fun store to be in. Look how exciting this looks! Eli and I went around and probably smelled like everything they had in the store. It was quite exciting.
See? This is us smelling like everything. Talk about an adventure! :D
