This is who I got to hang out with for Father's Day! Nana, Kristen, Papa, and Bill. It was very fun :)

I would like to draw your attention to the man of the hour, who is eagerly looking at the goodies he is about to devour. Haha :)

Well, as with Mother's Day, I would like to take a few minutes and write about my Dad on this lovely Father's Day :)

My Dad and I get along pretty well. He's a dork, I'm a dork. It works. Anybody who knows me well enough knows that I absolutely love and adore my Dad. He's probably my favorite person.

Dad had an awesome 70's/80's childhood where you could do pretty much anything. When my siblings and I were younger, we would always ask him to tell us cool stories from when he was young. Mom didn't always like that- she thought it would give us ideas haha :) My Dad told stories of shooting bottle rockets at drunk people, riding a bike down a hill and off the ramp into the pond behind his house, swimming after keys he dropped into Powell on a stormy day, throwing old celery with cheese out the window of the poor family's window when they weren't looking on his mission in Wisconsin, going 4-wheeling and jet skiing and tubing and skiing, how he met my Mom and the many events that led up to their marriage, how he and his siblings would drive down to Powell on a mattress they put in the bed of their truck, how he and Rob biked all the way down to Powell one year, and many many other stories.

When I was young, I remember many Saturdays with Dad. First thing I remember is how we got Slurpees at 7-11 literally every week. We always looked forward to that as kids :) Of course, after we did the yard work.... which was always really lame... When we lived in Draper, my Dad would take the kids to some BYU games. I remember not really liking the football games. I never really payed attention, to be honest. Dad would try to explain things to me, but I never understood the game. But I did enjoy going because I got to spend time with my Dad. That was always a nice thing :) He also taught me how to throw a football, tackle someone if I ever did play football, mow the lawn, throw a frisbee, ski, jet ski, etc..

My Dad always taught me to be tough. Whenever I would fall down or get cut or whatever it was, he would throw up a big thumbs up and say "Awesome!" then sometimes I would still be upset and start crying and he would give me a hug. When my Mom, Dad, Andrew and I went to France to visit Nana and Papa at the tail-end of their mission, I got attacked by a dog. I don't remember much from it, flashes here and there, but I remember it wasn't a very pleasant experience. I didn't need to go to the hospital or anything, but I was still pretty beat up. I remember he carried me upstairs to our room and put me in the bathtub to wash me off. I remember sitting there in that bathtub- the water got all gross and bloody. My head hurt, and I was shaken up and miserable. I asked him to tell me a story to get my mind off it. He started with something like, "Once upon a time, there was a little 9 year old girl. She went to France with her family and had a lot of fun adventures. She rode horses and went to the Eiffel Tower...." After a little bit of that, I realized it was me and giggled, telling him to tell me a different story- not one about myself :P

Dad also taught me to work. And I hated it. Especially vacuuming. I would be a little stink and put up a fight. But Mom and Dad didn't care, they would make me do it anyway. Finally, years later, here I am admitting that they were right, and thanking them for making me do all those chores. There ya go, guys- You were right!! Happy now? :P But yeah. Chores. Work. Cleaning. I remember when I was younger, I was washing the counter, and was spending forever trying to get this darn spill cleaned off, but I couldn't get it! I was getting a little frustrated. My Dad came over and said "You know, there's this great stuff that you can use that will take that spill right off that counter." Looking for the miracle-solution that would take the stubborn spill off the counter, I eagerly asked what it was. Dad said it was called "Elbow Grease." Woosh. That went right over my head. "Awesome, where is it?" I asked, super excited, thinking it was like the next generation of Windex or something. Dad laughed and explained that I just needed to put a little more work and effort into it. Eventually that thing came off the counter.

My Dad also taught me optimism. I worked at his office, filing papers, organizing stuff, and working on the long tedious jobs that no one else wanted to do. It was fine cause I got paid, but I still didn't always like the work. After a long week at work, I was sad to watch my weekend slip away all too quickly. Monday was back again. I was at the computer, back to my task, bored out of my mind. Only an hour into my work day, I remember looking at the clock and thinking, 'How am I going to get through this day? Its only an hour into my work, and I'm already dying to go home!'... then a few minutes later, I realized with horror, "How am I going to get through this week???" I was upset, and bored, and BLEH. Then I heard the door open. "Good morning, everyone!" My Dad called into the office. A bright and cheerful greeting that each of the co-workers responded to. He walked around, individually talking to each person, asking how their weekend. I thought, 'what the heck, Dad why are you so happy?? It's Monday morning, it's a horrible time to be happy!' After a few minutes, he circled around to my cubicle. "Hi Hayley, how are you?" I turned to him, "Good.... Dad, why the heck are you so happy?" He smiled and responded, "Why not?" That caught me off guard. I shouldn't even be complaining! My Dad works longer hours than I do, with a boss that's even more strict. And here I am, complaining about my whimpy little 7 hours in a cubicle. I learned quickly from that experience to always be happy, because... why not? It's a choice.

Dad also always had a cool and patient head, with an ability to just see things very simply and see them for how they are. He didn't scold or get angry at me very often, but when he did, there was a reason for it, and he always did it in a loving way. He was always very patient. Sometimes I just need to talk, and he would just listen. That requires a lot of patience :P He would also always remind me when I was frustrated or upset, that there is always a solution. You just have to find it. And crying or being frustrated or throwing things at the wall isn't going to get you any closer to finding it.

He also knows me better than I think he does. He always has my back, even if I sometimes forget. When David left on his mission, it was really hard for me. He is my best friend. But there were a couple times that my Dad just talked to me about it. Even if I couldn't, or didn't want to talk about it or say much about it, he would just let me know what he had me in his thoughts and prayers and knew that it was hard without him. There was one time a couple months ago when I was having a really hard time. I tried to hide it, and I didn't tell anyone. But he called and told me he knew I was having a hard time with it. He had my back.

I could talk about my Dad forever. And I do, to anyone who will listen. I absolutely adore him. He has taught me so much and loved me so unconditionally. I can't describe how grateful I am to have been lucky enough to be sent to a guy like him. He is awesome :)

Happy Father's Day! I love you :)

Eli and I rode Vicky around today. Its the black Ford Fairlane 50's car Eli took me on our first date in :) It's such a fun car to ride around in!

Oh yeah, notice the watch Eli just bought. Nice. :)

Went back up to Park City with James. Eli wanted to make a return, and I wanted to get a couple things at the Banana Republic place (I got $20 sunglasses for $7, and a Tshirt for $8! SCORE! I love sales and employee discounts :D)

Afterwards, we went to Granato's, this little Italian place. I had some of the most delicious tomato-basil soup ever :)

Bonfire at Jon's house:

.....that doesn't look very bonfire-ish. But that's ok, it was still fun :)

Thursday, June 14, 2012

The Jordan Temple was closed today, so I went to the Draper Temple. Look how stunning it is! :)

I also got a letter today from Elder Bell out in Bolivia. Good news. He's still alive! Ha :P But yeah, he put different stamps on this letter, so it looked pretty cool :)

I then proceeded to the Ward Softball game. It was my most embarrassing sports game ever. But whatever, we won :) Then I went to Clayton's with a bunch of guys from the ward for milkshakes, then went hot tubbing with Eli.

Me in my new Vans :) so cute.

Tuesday, June 12, 2012

Eli, James, Heiney and I went to the Park City outlets today after long-boarding on Eli's street for a bit.

James found some hats with his initials on them:

I needed some shoes, and the guys talked me into buying some Vans. I've always been kind of against buying Vans, but they convinced me :P darn guys. They said I needed to get better skating shoes. Plus, I needed to get some good casual closed-toe shoes. So I found these little suckers on sale for $15. I have to say, I actually kind of like them! :)

Louie, Heiney, James and Eli on the couch, in preparation of eating pizza and watching some Dumb and Dumber:

Eli's brother, Zac, left his dog Louie at Eli's house for a couple days while they remodeled their house. Louie loved to cuddle, and stole my spot on the couch :P

It was a gorgeous Sunday!! Just look at that mountain and sky! Ah so beautiful!!

I found some more flowers on a walk after dinner with Eli:

I went with Eli to his little niece's first birthday party. His whole family was there, it was so fun :) And I found another dog who likes me! This is Tinkerbelle, aka Tinka. She is so cute, and she loves me! :D

This is me, Eli, Daya and Jon at Island Flavor. It's this awesome little shave ice truck off Holladay Blvd between the 7-11 and Walgreens. That was pretty fun.
Yeah, Eli is making a wierd face. Thanks a lot, punk! :P

Then we got together at Jon's place with James, Heiney, and a couple others to watch the basketball game.

Oh yeah... This was also the day that I learned to drive stick. Eli took me out on his little Subaru WRX and let me drive around the neighborhood. It was a very stressful experience. Ha Eli said I did really well, but I was so nervous! I didn't want to ruin his car! :P I'll have to practice more. But it was fun :)

After a long day at EMI and another long evening at Gap, I went and practiced organ at the church for my calling. It was an adventure, I guess. I need to practice a lot to learn new songs for the different Sacrament meetings :P

This is Eli's dog Oscar (aka Oscar Myer Wiener... get it, cause he's a wiener dog??... aka Little Boy, cause he's the sixth child). You may remember him from the prank I pulled on Papa a while back :) Oscar has come to absolutely love me, and it makes me so happy! Every time I come over now, he barks and barks and barks, and when he comes over and I start petting him, he whimpers cause he missed me oh so much. I feel so loved! :)

So yeah, this is me at Eli's house with his dog. Lovely.

And yet another visit to Hector's! Look at that chimichanga! Deliciousness in a foam container. Covered in hot sauce. Boooyahhh!

Hector's (formerly called Molca Salsa) is a great little Mexican joint we like to go to for cheap food. Plus it's open super late, so we go a lot for midnight snacks (as shown above). It's a fun place to go, especially cause Eli orders in Espanol. He's probably the owner's favorite customer. They chat for a bit while Eli and I order. Then I feel like a dork when I order in straight-up English :P I can't wait to learn some Espanol.

Flower :)

Yes, flowers make me very happy. Especially this one. Look at that color!! Love it :D

Monday, June 4, 2012

After lunch, the electricity at my work (processing insurance claims at EMI full-time. Epic.) went out for over an hour! It was awesome!! :D I napped for a bit, then called and talked to Dad. That should happen more often! Oh, and the light in the doorway is from the window that was open in there, by the way.
Also, notice my hair. It's all wavy and cute :) Rachel let me borrow her jumbo waver. It was fun! I really liked it :) (hint hint for possible birthday gift? Jumbo 3-barrel waver. I like the one they have at Sally's.... :P just incase anyone was curious)

For FHE, we went on a hike up to Ensign peak. View looking west:

View looking south-east towards Salt Lake

 Oh look, it's Eli!

Sunday, June 3, 2012

Ha wow I absolutely adore this picture!! Most likely because I absolutely love each person in it! This is Sunday dinner at the Church's house. Aunt Kara, Uncle Corbin, Corb's mom, Papa, Nana, Katie, Rachel (visiting from Denver after EFY) and Jessica. It was a lovely day and a delicious dinner, I loved spending time with them :)

Saturday, June 2, 2012

Rockin out with the guys at Hiney's place.

I totally didn't realize until just now that there is a Jesus picture behind me.... Haha :P

Bowling!

Had a blast bowling with Eli, Samantha, Chase, Preston, Erica, Hiney and Craig :)

I was SO BUMMED when I realized I forgot to take a picture!! Oh well, but Eli and I went with Nana and Papa, and my parents and the Dunfords to the Mandarin for dinner. It was absolutely delicious... as always :)

Being the best man at your best friend's wedding reception has it's perks! Including taking home a bunch of leftover cupcakes! YES

My delicious chocolate cupcake + cards = YES

I loved getting to see my parents today and last night! I feel so sad I didn't end up getting any pictures with them!! :P I'll have to take a bunch when I see them next at Powell :) Love you guys!

My pile of removed staples at work.....
Fascinating, I know.

Tuesday, May 29, 2012

Eli, James, Chase and I went long-boarding. Chase would drive James to the top of Casto, and James would bomb the hills on his board. Then Chase would go down and pick him back up. It was fun to watch :)

Then we all went bouldering in Little Cottonwood. Here is James on top of a huge boulder:

Me :)  ....barefoot....

James and Chase making their way back down. I needed help getting down this rock, and Eli tried to help me down. Yeah, I almost pushed him over the edge of the rock right behind where Chase (black shirt) is. But we didn't die! We were probably saved because we were headed to Institute :)

Monday, May 28, 2012

After getting back from the family reunion, Eli, James, Chase, Jon, Dia and I all went and climbed to Donut Falls!

Eli and Jon found a really long branch. This is Chase hanging on it, like cavemen carrying food back to their cave:

This is Eli and Jon carrying Dia on the same branch:

Donut Falls! It was so beautiful! To get to the very top, we tried climbing up the left side, and ended up on a cliff thing way up top. Then, we came back down, and went up the left side, through the falls. Cold. Crazy.

I made it to Donut Falls! It's called Donut Falls cause the waterfall goes through the rock right there like a donut. Clever, huh?

Me and Eli! :) Alive!

We hiked up that, on the left side.

I hiked the majority of the falls barefoot to keep my shoes nice.

Go Figure.
